New Home
New Home Skin.
So... MySpace is the new Facebook is the new MySpace? Goddamn, that is a vicious circle of teen angst.
howwearecurious.com has been elevated a notch. There is acclimation! I'm going to see if I can 'archive' the MySpace stuff over there. This place has been mostly dead for a long while for me. I've been on here more in the past week than I have in nearly a year.
On the new site I am running Movable Type 4, and it seems good. I can create user profiles and am encouraging ex-Sprout Design's M&M's (Mike and Maya) to contribute non-work projects they've done. But, don't be fooled--there's absolutely nothing there yet. I can update it from work, which is awesome, but I really need to work more on customization before it's a viable outlet. It's as good (better) than blogspot or blogger (are those the same?), so I'm happy. I'm going to test out music implementations, document archiving and widgets later this week. As I see it, it can be a place to blog, publish music and drop short stories I've worked on. All goes well, I'd really like it to be larger than me--It'd be cool to have a few people posting various things.
Mike and I have batted around various webcomic ideas for a while now. We actually scripted out some comics, Mike worked on the art and we came up with a rough sketch of how the website should be laid out. We picked up a domain that we've done nothing with since, but if MT4 works out well I think it could work for that, also. We'd essentially have two independent 'blogs' for the same account--one to drop the image for the comic, and another for site updates and comments. MT4 would automatically archive everything for us. Could be good, if we ever free up the time to do anything with it.
I also never recorded anything else after moving to the last apartment. I didn't have the space or the time for it. Same goes for my online absence--I literally had a computer on the floor with the monitor on top of the tower. I picked up a wireless adapter, but if I ever had a signal it was usually a lone, fluctuating bar. I could do downloads, actually, because I'd let them go as the connection would allow and just leave the computer on for days, but it made just 'browsing' a chore. Now, I need to pick up a keyboard stand and I've been going through some of the unfinished recordings from early 2006. We'll see.
I'm also on a tremendous The Office kick. We went through the British one about a month ago and we are currently on Season 3 of the American one. I really like the BBC version more, but the American one is still top-notch. The characters are different, the twists in the overall story are varied when they're not totally different. It's good stuff. I've tried to DVR Extras, the HBO show that the original Office creators went on to make, but I've only snagged two of the 12 episodes. At this rate we'll be caught up to the current airings of the American Office within a week or two.
I am rambling.
