Skeleton Jar and Hippies

Yesterday I was inexplicably feeling a little disheartened for a good part of the day. The drive I did have left me at work and when I got done at 4 and went about the tasks I had to go about I just felt more and more like shutting thinking off and tuning out in my room for the rest of the night. Then Youth Group had to come along and pick me right up. Skeleton Jar is one of the best albums I have picked up. Not just lately, I think it may be one of the best albums I've picked up period. I feel like a bit of a blasphemist for saying this but this is almost what Plans should have been for Death Cab for Cutie. Excellence on a disc. How can you stand there and watch this scene/I hate you for liking me. Stuck in my fucking head. All day.

I also picked up Paramore. I haven't listened to the entire thing yet and to be honest it didn't stand a chance against Youth Group so it had a death sentence attached to it from the start. It's basically a standard fare emopunk group with a female vocalist. And listening to it I kept thinking if that was the Fall Out Boy singer I would enjoy it. But as it stands it's hard for me to take it serious. It's not bad, though, just not as good as the competition. They're playing some upcoming show and their disc caught my eye beforehand at Best Buy and afterhand at Atomic so I figured what the hell. We'll see.

I had a vegetarian sandwich at Panera the other day. It wasn't that good. It at least wasn't $7 good.

I saw Together last night. I think it was a Swedish film. It was awesome if not just for the fact that it was basically let's take a bunch of Riverwesters and deprive them of their ability to drink PBR and speak English, which is something I've always wanted to be able to do. They had the lesbian because it makes me different girl. They had the let's not put labels on our relationship because then we can fuck other people without getting jealous couple. They had the the workers can unite and take over the country political activist. And they had the guy who looked like he really just wanted to smoke pot, listen to phish and wear Tie-Dye. And they all pretty much call each other out on it and bitch and argue. I think this describes a good handful of Mal, Terri and Laura' friends. It was actually a pretty good movie. The main-ish guy who was the male end of the "open relationship" (read: the guy having to put up with listening to his girlfriend fuck other guys) was likeable as a character and one of the only ones I could take seriously. He looked like the dude from Iron & Wine. If I could throw down on that much of a "mountain man" beard- I would.

I'd also like to add a correction (or rather an addendum) to my last blog, courtesy Mal. She pretty much pointed out that she wasn't just a tool for reading the last blog but also for most of the other ones she read as well. She's absolutely right: She, and many others, have proven time and again their utter worthlessness as human beings. I wasn't trying to state that reading my last blog was the only way to do this but I failed to take into account that some people would be too dense to realize this. Mal perfectly demonstrates this denseness and kudos should really be thrown her way for helping me realize the err of my ways. Thanks Mal!

Nobody has been in the store for 40 minutes. I suppose that means I should start closing down. No pitcher/pizza tonight for me but Mug Club? Fuck yes. At some point tonight or tomorrow I've got to figure out the technical aspects of my costume for tomorrow's party as well. I estimate it will take me at least 15 minutes to construct.
