Contra is good game.
So now that I work at a gaming store I play video games again.
Just not new ones.
Contra: Shattered Soldier is excellent. Frustrating, but excellent. And not quite Metal Slug 3 frustrating. That one was more like when I was 6 and I would get so pissed at a video game that I would bite my own hand in rage to keep from shattering anything nearby made out of glass. Metal Slug 4 5 come out next week, let's see how I fare with those.
Other thoughts:
Star Ocean: Till The End of Time has dropped to $20. It is also an awesome game. Final Fantasy-vein, Square-Enix produced, and damn long enough to keep me happy til Final Fantasy XII comes out at the end of the year (hopefully).
Chaos Legion is underrated. It's a decent update to the brawler series that came on the heels of Devil May Cry a bit too soon. A bit easy and repititious, but fun.
Tetris Worlds is not Tetris. Tetris Worlds is, in fact, the devil.

It is an abomination to nature. It's like Tetris (which is one of the greatest games ever made) was pregnant and then spit out Tetris Worlds as the destitute remains of a failed abortion, complete with little infected holes from where the rusty clothes hanger connected. I wish I could illustrate with a bit more clarity the utter abhorrence to mankind that this game is. You don't fucking show where the blocks are going to land before they land and all I want is classic Tetris as fast as I want it, I don't want 15 variations on a theme or a storyline about how aliens play tetris to jump ship from a dead planet. I just want beer and connecting blocks, is that too much to fucking ask?! Jesus Christ I hate this game.
Last game I've played lately: Rainbow Six 3. Great in concept although they must have really loved Zoolander because I can't seem to convince my guy he wants to pivot any way but left. Also they tempt the hell out of people like me who have no patience and no problem shooting a teammate in the leg for taking too long.
Ah beer and tetris. I think tonight I'll pull up Super Tetris 3 from Super Nintendo, there's a game that gets it right. I just wish they had a mode faster than S9, I need a version of this game that offers a mode where the blocks fall faster than the human eye is supposed to be able to follow. If I didn't mention it before don't ever buy Tetris Worlds, doing so just shows that you hate crippled children or something, and that's not cool.
